A rainy Saturday afternoon in Grandma's attic...
The creator of these cards, a resident of the Boston's historic South End, remembered coming across an old leather-bound album of daguerreotype photos of his ancestors in the attic when he was a young boy. He decided to share them and thought of a way to make these seemingly stiff characters come to life in the 21st century. In part, as a tribute to a gentler way of life. And since these folks are now actually stiff, they'll be no legal repercussions.
About the South End
In 1972, largely due to the efforts of concerned residents who valued the architecture of the grand residences that were being destroyed in the "urban renewal" craze of the 1960s, the South End was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the largest Victorian brick rowhouse district extant in the United States. In 1983, the area became a local Boston Landmark District and is the largest landmark district in the country, covering more than 500 acres.
